“Consume Later” and Downloads on iPhone: save on the go, read later
Found something interesting, but no time right now? Swipe the message to the right, and it goes to “Consume Later”. If your devices are paired, you’ll find it on your Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro too. If you like, channelBar downloads saved podcast episodes to your iPhone, so they play without a connection. The video shows you how in just over a minute.
Some things are better read later, on a big screen or on the go. In channelBar Feeds, one swipe saves them, and you find them again on every paired device. You can even take podcast episodes along offline.
Saved with one swipe
Swipe a message to the right and tap “Consume Later”, or swipe all the way. That works for anything: articles, videos and podcast episodes. Saving also marks the message as read.
The box in the bottom bar shows everything you’ve saved. One more tap on the box, and you’re back in your stream. Done with it? Swipe the message to the right again, now it says “Remove”.
On all your devices, and kept safe
If your devices are paired, the list is also on your Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro. The article you found on your iPhone on the go is waiting on your Mac tonight. Whatever you remove disappears on all your devices.
You pair devices in Configuration: tap the logo at the top left and choose “Device Sync” under “Settings”.
Whatever is on the list stays. When a channel clears out old messages automatically, channelBar keeps the ones you saved.
Podcast episodes for the road
Saved episodes can also take themselves off the list. You set that up in Configuration under “Podcast Player”, at Remove from “Consume Later”: “When started” or “When finished”. By default, it’s set to “Never”, and they stay on the list.
For the road, tap “Downloads” under “Settings” and turn on Keep “Consume Later” offline. channelBar then downloads every saved podcast episode to your iPhone, at first over Wi-Fi only: “Download over Wi-Fi only” is on by default. Articles and videos stay on the list; only podcast episodes are downloaded.
Take an episode off the list, and channelBar deletes the file too. An episode you’ve started stays until you finish it or remove it from the playback history. The small arrow below the time tells you: this episode is on your iPhone and plays without a connection.
