Daily reading on iPhone: how to stay up to date
New stuff comes in every day. With the filter, you only see what’s unread and read your way up from the oldest message. A tap on the check mark or a swipe to the left marks a message as read, and the arrow brings it back if you were too fast. The video shows you how in just over a minute.
New messages arrive in channelBar Feeds every day, and the newest is always at the top. Three things help you keep track: the filter, the check mark and the undo arrow.
Only unread, from the bottom up
Tap the filter in the bottom bar. channelBar then shows only the unread messages from all your channels and jumps to the oldest one. From there, you read your way up.
To get to the top, tap the status bar, like anywhere in iOS. If messages with an older date arrive later, they end up further down. Then the hidden area at the very bottom, next to the bar, takes you to the end.
Mark as read, and bring it back
Tap the check mark on a message, or swipe it to the left. Opening a message counts as read, too. Too fast? The arrow at the bottom right brings it back, one at a time. Shaking works too.
No time? Tap the unread count at the top and confirm “Mark All as Read”. For a single channel, long-press one of its messages and mark everything in it as read. Neither can be undone. Turn the filter off, and you’re back in the full stream.
Compact, and just the way you like it
Want to see more at a glance? The button at the top right makes the list compact – without images, but with more messages on the screen. Long-press it to switch the maximum height of the messages.
Everything else is in Configuration: tap the logo at the top left and choose “Appearance” under “Settings”. There you set the maximum height, separately for portrait and landscape, and under “Read button”, where the check mark sits. “Advanced” makes it invisible: then a tap on the left or right edge marks a message as read, and a tap in the middle opens it. Set the width and shape of the zones right below.
